Panther N.R.BRUNET
1930
Bronze with green patina - Signed N.R.BRUNET on the terrace.
Robert Noël Brunet, a discreet animal sculptor, studied at the École des Arts Appliqués under Robert Wlérick and Henry Arnold. He later refined his skills in the workshop of Georges Saupique. His solid training allowed him to frequently work on national monuments, either as a collaborator (Notre-Dame de Paris, Arc de Triomphe, Nevers Cathedral, Tours, Soissons, Paris Stock Exchange, etc.) or independently (reconstruction of the Buttes Chaumont belvedere, Saint-Augustin Church, etc.). Despite this demanding work, he was able to pursue a discreet career as a sculptor of figures and animals, some of which were published by Susse. He exhibited a Black Panther at the 1941 Salon d'Automne, an Egyptian Ox and a Belgian Malinois at the 1945 Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, and a Matador at the 1948 Salon.
